Our Mission

PC-TAG's mission is to advocate for gifted children in HPISD. We strive to accomplish this through advocacy, grants, enrichment programming, and teacher support.

PC-TAG... advocates for gifted education

  • Monitor state and national legislation that impacts gifted and talented students
  • Liaison with the district’s TAG Coordinators and Specialists
  • Partner with LitFest, Science Festival, HPArts and other parent advocacy groups to advance the educational experience in HPISD
  • Host information sessions with district personnel to share HPISD TAG updates

PC-TAG... provides funding

  • Over $650,000 total approved grants in the past 14 years, benefiting students and educators
    • $37,000 approved for the Distinguished Scholar Award
    • $63,000 approved for Teacher Awards, Conferences and Training
    • $567,000 approved for classroom and learning enrichment​

PC-TAG... provides enrichment programming

  • Parent Speaker Series programs throughout the year, address current topics relevant to TAG parents
  • Student Meet-and-Greet Tour of MIS for incoming TAG students
  • Member-only social media chat group provides a discussion forum for networking with other district TAG parents
  • Annual Parent Panel shares experiences with TAG curriculum, TAG/PreAP/AP courses, extracurricular activities, GPA, college applications and more
  • The PC-TAG Distinguished Scholar Award is given to a graduating senior(s) each year who demonstrates an authentic passion for learning

PC-TAG... supports teachers

  • PC-TAG Teacher-of-the-Year Award honors and rewards an educator who has a passion for teaching and inspires the love of learning
  • Professional learning at state and national conferences is supported through grant awards
  • Our annual Teacher Appreciation Breakfasts celebrate our educators
  • Grant requests are welcomed throughout the school year, for more flexible and responsive classroom and curriculum enrichment funding
