PC-TAG will host parents of current and former Highland Park High School students to discuss their experiences with TAG, PreAP, and AP classes, extracurricular activities, the middle/high school curriculum, GPA, college admissions, freshman experiences, and more. Parents will also have the opportunity to ask questions.
5th Grade TAG Parent Information Session
August 21, 2024, 8:30-9:30 am, 5th/6th Assembly Room
PC-TAG will host an information session on the TAG program at MIS conducted by HPISD TAG Coordinator, Ericca Vandagriff and MIS Explorations Teacher, Shannon Taliaferro. Parents will also be able to ask questions. This session is exclusively for parents of TAG identified students (Math and/or Explorations) in 5th grade for the 2024-2025 school year. Discover the exciting world of Explorations in 5th grade, the TAG track for Language Arts, Social Studies, and Science starting in 6th grade, and the MIS/HPMS TAG Math track. Parent Welcome Coffee
September, 17 2024, 9:00am Clements Leadership Center, Highlander Meeting Room
PC-TAG hosted a welcome coffee with a quick information session conducted by HPISD TAG Coordinator, Ericca Vandagriff and Amy Wood, HPISD Executive Director of Curriculum Instruction and Professional Learning.PC-TAG Members met and heard more about our program. Parents will also have the opportunity to ask questions.
Magikid Robotics Lab - Elementary Event
Elementary students explored robotics, programming, and 3D design! Each session included two 30 minute instructor-led projects that allowed students to experience building, designing, and programming their own creations.
Sick with Worry: The Rise of Achievement Anxiety
Parent Speaker: Kelly Jameson presented on The Rise of Achievement Anxiety.
These days, it's not who you are, but what you do! Teens are feeling the anxiety of achievements, accomplishments, and advancement in all forms. Academics, sports, time and talent are all measured, awarded and ranked. No wonder we have a nation of anxious kids on the rise! What is anxiety vs. stress? Is it heredity? How to parent those anxious moments and meltdowns? Do We medicate or work through? This presentation will calm the nerves about achievement anxiety for you and your teen.
