![]() On National Tell a Joke Day, PC-TAG hosted a special breakfast to show appreciation for the hardworking teachers at the high school. Teachers and staff mingled and enjoyed their breakfast, we decided to liven up the atmosphere with lots of fun jokes! We asked participants to share their favorite jokes with the group, and the results were hilarious. From cheesy one-liners to elaborate puns, everyone was in stitches as we shared laughs and bonded over our appreciation for a good joke. Throughout the event, we also took the opportunity to thank our teachers and staff members for their tireless work and dedication to our students. PC-TAG loved being able to bring some joy and levity to our teachers' day while also showing them how much we appreciate all that they do. As we head into the new school year, let's remember to continue supporting and thanking our educators for their hard work and commitment to our children's education. PC-TAG is honored to announce this year's PC-TAG Teacher of the Year for HPISD. The annual PC-TAG Teacher of the Year Award honors and rewards an educator who encourages and inspires a love of learning in their students. Teachers are nominated by parents and students in the spring each year. Unlike most years, this year, the board made an exception and chose two deserving recipients. Dr. Christopher Miller, HPMS Principal and Amy Kovac, PC-TAG President surprised these two deserving individuals with their awards. Congratulations to Claire Zaika-Taglioli, TAG Algebra and TAG Geometry teacher and Shannon Taliaferro, 7th Grade TAG Language Arts teacher for receiving this prestigious honor. In honor of Earth Day, on Friday April 22nd, PC TAG elementary students enjoyed an incredible STEAM program that features TREES! Students gained hands-on academic enrichment in science, ecology, soil science, recycling, and expressive art as they explored their roles as stewards of our Earth's precious environment.
Students had 90 minutes to complete various activities including building recycled planters, measuring and calculating weight of trees, learning how to protect our ecosystem and understanding mycorrhizal networks. The event was sponsored by Park Cities Talented and Gifted (PC-TAG), an organization dedicated to advocating for talented and gifted children in the Highland Park Independent School District. PC-TAG strives to enhance the educational experience for talented and gifted students throughout the district. To see upcoming events, visit PC-TAG Programs Page. TAG Explorations explores the wonders of the heart in third grade. The heart of the pig is most like the human heart. PC-TAG happily welcomed our MIS and HPMS teachers and staff back to school this week with a wonderful breakfast from Jen's Place Bakery and Cafe Wednesday, January 5th. A big thank you to our resource committee members Jennifer Munoz and Dianna Bowen for hosting this event.
